Structure and Mechanical Properties of Titanium Processed by Twist Extrusion and Subsequent Rolling

The article considers one of the combined methods severe plastic deformation (SPD), which includes twist extrusion (TE) and subsequent rolling. use forming is promising for industrial use. Titanium grade 1 was used as a material in experiments. Rolling carried out three stages with decrease temperature from 350°C to 180°C number passes heating. accumulated strain degree e = 4.6 at 3 Increasing reduction per pass decreases heatings increases efficiency rolling process whole. At same time, it necessary set maximum processing modes recrystallization processes do not occur billet. When rolling, taken range 5–20% an increase successive passes. such degrees allowed reducing grain size titanium significantly. Twist reduces 300–500 nm. Subsequent structural elements 50–100 nm provided significant mechanical characteristics billet (up 869 MPa) while maintaining satisfactory ductility 11.6%). It found that increasing up 40% cross-rolling simultaneously 385°C led UFG structure quality reduced strength deformable by starting dynamic process.
